| ITI is an
acronym for the: Institute of Translation and Interpreting, the UK's professional body for both individual translators and interpreters, and also for companies associated with these activities. The Institute promotes and monitors the standards of professional excellence required in those fields in which the services of specialist linguists are employed. The East Midlands Regional Group is one of a number of regional groups set up to provide a meeting point for both members and non-members of ITI. It was founded in 1989, and has a current membership of between 30 and 40. Because members are drawn from a wide radius, encompassing Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, contact is maintained primarily by means of an e-mail network, supplemented by occasional social events. The Group is open to all that have a personal or business interest in translation and interpreting. Help and advice can be offered to those who are starting out in the profession. Dr John Kelly is the Regional Co-ordinator of the East Midlands Regional Group. Please contact him at Duvelle if you have any queries. |
